About the Name

Our name and logo are inspired by the story of Narcissus, who, in Greek mythology, falls in love with his reflection. We embrace the name for what we believe it represents: the feeling of seeing your reflection and truly loving what you see!

At Narcissus, our greatest goal is simple—to help every woman who walks through our doors feel confident, beautiful, and completely herself.

Our History

As a locally owned, female-led business, Narcissus Gainesville is the second location of its kind and the sixth store under the Narcissus umbrella, joining our sister boutiques, including Narcissus and Pink Narcissus.

Narcissus first opened it's doors in Tallahassee in 1989 as a lingerie boutique, built around something that has remained at the heart of the brand ever since: helping women feel beautiful. Naturally, swimwear soon followed, and over the years Narcissus grew into a destination for fashion, introducing sought-after designers and expanding into clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and accessories.

Through the years, Narcissus added quality name-brands of womens clothing often only found in high-end department stores. Through this, the need for a shoe, bag, and accessory department grew. Tory Burch entered the mix of Narcissus in early 2010's, the only speciality boutique to carry the American luxuary brand in the Florida panhandle.  Now Narcissus carries every category a women's closet could need!

Narcissus Gainesville

In March 2020, Narcissus opened its doors in Gainesville’s Butler Town Center, bringing the brand’s longstanding tradition of personal service and carefully curated fashion to a new community. Since then, Narcissus Gainesville has grown into a destination of its own, with a personality and sense of style uniquely chosen for Gainesville. From everyday favorites and evening formalwear to designer pieces, swimwear, game-day looks, shoes, handbags, and accessories, every collection is thoughtfully chosen with our Gainesville shopper in mind.
